You may have noticed Ive been a bit MIA this week – that’s because a friend of mine surprised me with a trip to Niagara Falls and Toronto! I’m not gonna lie, for this little Kiwi chick, it’s quite incredible to think that you can literally WALK into another country. As for Niagara Falls – OMG!! It’s stunning! I got on board the Maid of the Mist and had to take a selfie… haha
But the view was nothing short of STUNNING from the Canadian side…
I was with one of my really good friends Mike (you might remember him from such shows as “the dude I couchsurfed with back in March when I auditioned for The Voice whilst having laryngitis”. He’s a photographer, and spent a great deal of time taking photos of scenery, and me amongst the scenery… I look forward to sharing them with you when they are finished!
We also visited Toronto – and I walked around the edge of the CN Tower, which I was super excited to learn was based architecturally on Auckland’s Skytower! (Take that, Kiwis!!) though the Skytower isn’t nearly as tall… the CN tower is 1500ft (553m), Skytower is only 1076ft.
It was a refreshing trip to say the least – enough to recharge my batteries somewhat, so I can focus my next couple of weeks on RECORDING!!! and PERFORMING!! Because my Kennedy Center show and my Velvet Lounge show are now less than TWO WEEKS AWAY!!
You can find out all the details about my Velvet Lounge show HERE
, and as soon as details are up for the Kennedy Center showcase, I’ll send them out to you too 🙂
However, this letter is also a bit bittersweet, as I wanted to thank some of the awesome Farragut North peeps, and the awesome Metro Police for helping a sister out this morning after getting essentially robbed
by a dude who claimed to be part of MS-13. It’s okay – he only took a couple of dollars, and when I asked him why he did that, I think he was a little puzzled that I didn’t know who MS-13 was… I feel like he was just trying to get a jolt from me – intimidation and all that, cos he certainly didn’t come across as all that tough, but no matter. I super appreciated the love from everyone else this morning, and for the strangers who chipped in with information that I couldn’t remember. It’s a crazy world out there, but your positivity and love REALLY helped me to remember to keep my faith in people.
*stands in the middle of a crowd dancing and screaming YOU CAN’T DIM MY SUNSHINE!!!*
Oh! And last but not least, a few of you reached out and asked how you might be able to get more involved in this musical journey of mine, so I’ve created a SECRET (not so secret, but hey) members only Facebook group where we can hatch plans and do awesome stuff. If you’d like to join, the link is HERE
Stay golden, friends!
