All This Love

Hey friends!

First, I need to apologize – to everyone that came along to Arlington Pub at Wholefoods last Friday, you would have noticed I wasn’t there. This is because they double booked me (again) with another musician – so I’ve been re-booked for THIS Friday from 6pm – 8pm. I hope y’all can make it!

Either way, time wasn’t wasted! When one door closes, another opens, right? Well, in this case: two doors opened!ย So instead I hit the studio with my bro PhenomX and our shared producer Flightboy Music to work on a collaborative track of his called “WE RISE”. It’s a song dedicated to ex-military, veterans, fighters, hustlers, and everyone who has been through struggle – a song of resilience if you will. I’m a wee bit excited about it, really!ย You can watch a small sneaky peek https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Femmag.music%2Fvideos%2F10154686094083546%2F&show_text=1&width=560” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener noreferrer” data-cke-saved-href=”http://https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Femmag.music%2Fvideos%2F10154686094083546%2F&show_text=1&width=560“>HERE!

The second door was with another producer friend of mine: King Rome who decided to challenge me recently, and discussed doing a reggae themed collaboration – though, this time the collaboration is more focused on my songwriting and voice, with his production.

After listening to his track four or five times, the words kind of just fell out of me… a song called “All This Love”, which is a tribute to my conversations and experiences with interracial relationships – especially in America.

Let me explain. I’m not from this country – I’m an incredibly multi-cultural human (Fijian, American, Norwegian, Iranian, and Kiwi), so issues of race have never really been… well, issues. I used to quip that I am the product of overcoming racism in one body. Heh. Last year, however, I had a (now ex) boyfriend tell me that one of the reasons people (in America, at least) are intrigued by me is because I’m different – a token – a trophy of multiculturalism, if you will. Skip forward to last week, and a conversation I had with a stranger about her multi-racial relationship, and BOOM! This song was born!

You can listen to a sneak peek https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Femmag.music%2Fvideos%2F10154680895623546%2F&show_text=0&width=560” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener noreferrer” data-cke-saved-href=”http://https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Femmag.music%2Fvideos%2F10154680895623546%2F&show_text=0&width=560“>HERE!ย and don’t worry, I’ll let you know AS SOON AS it’s finished!

Of course, it’s still New Zealand Music Month – and, being from Aotearoa (that’s the indigenous language term for New Zealand) – I’ve been doing a lot of covers in tribute. So this week’s cover is Gotye feat. Kimbra (whom I went to school with) “Somebody that I used to Know”. You can watch it HERE!

Enjoy!

And last, but not least, thanks to everyone who tuned in to my AMA over the weekend. It went on a lot longer than I anticipated, but you can listen to / watch it https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Femmaghaemmaghamy%2Fvideos%2F10155203518329088%2F&show_text=0&width=400” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener noreferrer” data-cke-saved-href=”http://https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Femmaghaemmaghamy%2Fvideos%2F10155203518329088%2F&show_text=0&width=400“>HERE!

Let me know if you’d be down for me to have another one… possibly on another platform other than Facebook. I’ll let you know…. ๐Ÿ™‚

Until then, have a ridiculously awesome week, and I’ll see you when I see you next!

Peace, love and chicken
